How A Quiz Can Be A Brand Builder

I recently launched a new quiz: What’s Your Brand’s Unique Hook?  It’s meant to help entrepreneurs, founders and business owners pinpoint the best strategy to implement for their brand to stand out.

The really cool thing about creating a quiz?  It’s a win-win.

Let me explain.

The Win-Win Of Creating A Quiz For Your Brand

One of the biggest pain points my audience has — especially right now after the post-Covid online purchasing boom, the economy slowdown, and customers just being so much pickier about what they buy (and who they buy from) —

Is standing out.

Breaking through.

Cutting through the noise of not just competition from their industry, but competition for their customers’ attention in general.

By taking the quiz, they get a result (in a minute or less), giving them a strategy to stand out, define their uniqueness, with examples and tips to get started.

WIN!

On the flip side, I WIN because I get to use this quiz to build my brand awareness, grow my audience and increase brand trust.

5 Benefits Of Leveraging A Quiz For Your Brand

There are so many benefits of using a quiz to boost your brand, including:

1 - ENGAGING YOUR AUDIENCE

I can remember flipping through SEVENTEEN magazine when I was in high school and I’d always stop on the quizzes —

  • What Eyeshadow Color Looks Best On You?

  • Are You A Good Kisser?

  • The Best Outfits For Your Body Shape

  • Which Celebrity Hunk Is Your Star Sign’s Soulmate?

They were the best!  It was so fun to answer all the questions and get your result and then compare with all your girlfriends.

Same thing, but now for your business!  Meaning, quizzes are a great way to build your brand because they’re fun, interactive, shareable, and increase engagement with your target audience.

2 - IMPROVING YOUR PRODUCTS & SERVICES

When you build a quiz for your business, the quiz building platform gives you the analytics to view so you can see for yourself how your quiz takers are answering each individual question and ultimately what results they get.

As a business owner, you can use this data as information gathering to get to know your customers even better.  You’ll understand how they’re identifying their challenges, needs and preferences, which can help you improve your offers to serve them better.

3 - GROWING YOUR EMAIL LIST WITH QUALITY LEADS

If you haven’t heard it once, you’ve heard it a million times: focus on growing your email list to build your brand.  Why?  Because it’s a marketing tool you own versus social media as a rented platform or one where you have to pay to play to get any kind of visibility.

Quizzes can help you build your email list since your quiz takers need to supply their email address in order for you to send them their quiz result.

Plus, your quiz is an automatic lead pre-qualifier.  Anyone who takes your quiz is going to be interested in what you have to offer because they’re taking the time to say, yes I want to know this answer so I can have the result your quiz promises.  By creating a quiz for your brand, you’re helping your audience gain some much wanted insights, and also attracting warm leads for your business.

4 - INCREASING BRAND AWARENESS

Quizzes make your brand more visible.  You’ll promote your quiz across all your marketing touchpoints: blog, email, social media, ads, podcast, and more.

And, quizzes are highly shareable, so you can encourage your quiz takers to share their results, or to share the quiz itself with friends and peers who’d like it to.  The more you and your audience share, to more it will build your brand awareness.

5 - GAINING INSIGHTS FOR NEW OFFERS + MESSAGING

When you build your quiz, some questions can branch off and help you lead to the ideal result, but you can have other questions within the quiz that are giving you as the business owner great insight into your audience.

For example, if your audience is B2B like mine, you can include a question that asks what type of business owner they are: product-based, service provider, creative, or course creator.  That question doesn’t necessarily give you information that leads to your quiz result, but it does tell you if the bulk of who you’re attracting are all service-based, or perhaps a majority of everyone you attract is a creative.

This insight gives you the chance to be more specific in your messaging and even create new offers that speak even more directly to the audience you’re attracting.  Huge benefit!

Add A Quiz To Your Marketing To Build Your Brand

Here’s the thing, marketing is changing all the time.  What works and what doesn’t, what content gets seen or buried by an algorithm, and what actually cuts through…it’s not just one answer that you stick witha forever.

What I do know, having been in marketing and brand strategy for 25+ years is that any kind of marketing that can engage your customer, give them a quick win, gift them free insight?  That’s a great marketing strategy to have in your toolkit.

Plus, if you’re looking for additional ways for your brand to stand out, differentiate itself from the competition, and identify your uniqueness to set you apart from the sea of competition…
