Branding Tips for Entrepreneurs: How To Save Time & Energy

Recently, I did a podcast interview with Mompreneur and Master Life Coach, Teresa Hildebrand, on her Organized Chaos podcast where I spoke about branding for mompreneurs and how branding saves you time and energy when it comes to growing your business.

Although mom entrepreneurs have a unique challenge of balancing the responsibility and joy of work life and home life, I know firsthand that ALL entrepreneurs are really looking for ways to be more efficient in their business, save time and energy, and have the clarity to build a brand that feels authentic and connects with their audience of choice. 

Today, I’m sharing some of the tips I shared on the podcast with you here, as I know they’ll be helpful to all modern entrepreneurs developing their brand and scaling their business!

HOW TO SAVE TIME & ENERGY GROWING YOUR BUSINESS

As a modern entrepreneur, you’re most likely on the hunt for one of two things: more time and/or more energy. 

One of the single most effective ways to save your time and energy growing your business is by first establishing your brand strategy. 

When you build a brand and implement it consistently, you have a plan to: 

  • stand out

  • attract dream clients

  • communicate what sets you apart

  • become recognized as a top choice in your industry

BRAND STRATEGY GIVES YOU THE ROADMAP TO ATTRACTING YOUR BEST FIT CUSTOMERS

Here are 9 brand strategy essentials to clarify and define for your business  so you can create a clear and cohesive brand with compelling messaging (AND, so you’re not wasting time trying to figure out how to reinvent the wheel across every social platform, every email you send, or anytime you go to create content or offers for your business).

1 - Clear Purpose

Define the why behind your business so you can share it with your audience…this may dovetail into your brand story as well.

2 - Brand Keywords

Your 3-5 keywords are the pillars of your brand describing how you want your target audience to perceive your brand.  They also become great filters for anything you do in your business to stay consistent.

3 - Concise Mission Statement

Your mission is the single most important piece of communication you can craft for your brand - - - it tells people who you are, what you do, who you serve and how you specifically help that lets them know why they should pay attention.  If there’s one thing I’d consider a MUST HAVE in your brand strategy, it’s your mission.

4 - Inspiring Vision

Not only do you need to know where your brand is heading so you don’t waste time going in directions that don’t serve your business goals, but your audience will want to understand the big picture of what your brand aspires to be.

5 - Aligned Values

As mentioned before, consumers today want to align themselves with brands who’s values line up with theirs.  Determine what your brand stands for, believes in and values most and be sure to show up that way.

6 - Point of Difference

In order to stand out, you need to leverage all your experience, strengths, knowledge and innate talent and package it in a way that features your unique brilliance.  Clarifying your point of difference helps you rise above competitors in your saturated market so YOUR dream clients can find you, fall in love with you, and hire you or buy from you.

7 - Distinct Messaging

When you are clear on who you’re talking to, and you know more about their psychographics (their internal motivations - what’s driving them: their desires and goals), you can craft messaging that’s super specific and really relatable.  That’s what helps you draw in your ideal clients with ease.  I recommend having a catchy tagline, but messaging is really every piece of communication from your brand.  Defining this now will save you time later.

8 - Identifiable Design

Translate your brand strategy into meaningful and intentional design so your style is immediately identifiable.  When you have a style guide for your brand (logos, color palette with hex codes, typography guidelines) it helps you stay consistent with the look and feel of your brand and that’s what creates a cohesive and recognizable brand.

9 - Unique Voice + Personality

Your brand strategy needs to be clear first.  But, then you want to add personality to it so it feels like you’re breathing life into your business and it can connect on an emotional level to move your audience.  Think of some of your favorite brands - each of them have a distinct style of communication and a personality that comes through that attracts their ideal audience.
