Let’s Get Clear On Brand Clarity

So many people jump into their businesses because they’re fulfilling a demand, or they need to make money right now… and, neither of these are wrong or incorrect.  However, when you skip the step of defining what your business is all about, you probably don’t have as much brand clarity for yourself or for your audience.

Brand Clarity does not simply mean you understand what kind of business you’re in.  That’s only step one.

By definition a BRAND is the name under which you do business.  It’s an identifying name people will recognize for the type of product or service you offer.

A name or logo doesn’t actually mean anything to anyone, though, until you assign meaning, value and an emotional connection point to it and direct all those things to a specific audience.

By definition, CLARITY means the quality or state of being clear and easy to understand.

Having BRAND CLARITY as a business owner or entrepreneur means you are crystal clear on why you are in business, why you’ve assigned a particular meaning to your brand name, and who your products / services are for.

It means you’ve created brand messaging that is so clear your audience easily understands what you do and why, the value you offer and why it benefits them.

So if I asked you…

What’s the big picture look like for your business?

That’s BRAND VISION and it helps you connect with WHY you’re in business in the first place.  Sharing your why creates a connection point to your audience who will often be inspired or excited by your Why.

Who is your audience and what are their greatest struggles and ambitions as it relates to what you offer?

Your BRAND’S TARGET AUDIENCE is vital to understand so you can form relationships with them, connect with them and be a relatable resource for them.

Or, if I asked you …

Can you tell me in just 1-2 sentences what your business does, who it’s for and the value it brings to your customers?

That’s your BRAND MISSION STATEMENT which can be used as the basis for your elevator pitch when introducing yourself.

You must be able to easily answer all of these questions (and more!) in order to truly have BRAND CLARITY.

If you’re not clear on what your business stands for, how will you ever communicate it to your audience?
